The 1951 School bus was converted into a sheep camp by the “Barnes Boys”, my great Uncles. After a fender bender while pulling the camp it was parked behind the Red Roof Cabin for 40 years. I was able to aquire it and my 2nd daughter was interested in restoring it to its former glory. I agreed and the dirty work began. It had to be completely gutted down to the bare metal and rust treated and painted. We then had to reframe the walls and ceiling. Next we used spray foam insulation, added new subfloor, windows were replaced, the door repaired and stabilized, the chimney hole sealed, electric wiring added, all outside holes sealed, framing the bed, building and installing the sliding table, building the seats and cabinet, painting everything, new laminate flooring, tongue and groove cedar on the walls and ceiling. What a list of jobs… In the end we were thrilled with how well it turned out. After hammering the front fender back to its normal shape we moved in on blocks over a washed gravel pad and plugged it in. The outside has the classic patina but the inside will amaze you! What a fun daddy daughter project. We hope you will enjoy it as well!
