Ross & Sherida Lloyd

Owners

Ross and Sherida Lloyd have lived with their family in Almo, Idaho next to the City of Rocks for 10 years. Ross is a 4th generation resident and lives in the brick and log home his father built. Across the road is his grandparents hand built cabin -- the Red Roof Cabin-- which Ross has recently renovated. Across the field is the cabin where his great grandfather raised 10 children. We raise milk and pack goats, and chickens for fun and health. The lovely Almo valley is a peaceful escape from the cares of the world and the City of Rocks and Castle Rocks provide adventure and excitement. With a rich history and lots to do, we are happy to let others enjoy it in our vacation rentals as well.

What guests say

We appreciate the feedback we get from our guests. Here are just a few comments we have received.

"This is a really nice, big, comfortable lodging near City of Rocks NR and Castle Rocks state park--right at the boundary, so it doesn't get any more convenient for going in and out of the park. Two Queen beds, full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator/ freezer, nice bathroom, everything in great shape. I didn't ever turn the tv on, but there's a big flat-screen on the wall. Wifi works fine, room AC kept the temp comfortable."

"This is a FANTASTIC place to get away from the noise of a city. Place is comfortable and has all you need for a great stay. We love that is so close to the City of rocks where the kids absolutely love exploring and climbing! Ross and Sherida are always so friendly and accommodating, and are very quick to respond to any questions or needs you might have. It's close to the two restaurants in town and the hot springs are less than five minutes away. Perfect family retreat for a quick weekend getaway or extended stay! Thanks for a great time!!!"

"Staying at Ross and Sherida's City of Rocks Retreat was a wonderful start to our road trip vacation through Southern Idaho. Communication ahead of our stay was always prompt and helpful, the driving directions provided were great, and even though we arrived late, Ross stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. The space was just as described, with absolutely beautiful surroundings, and a great place to set out from to explore City of Rocks the next day. Arriving on a clear night and being able to sit outside for a bit to see the stars and even the Milky Way was a special treat. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend Ross and Sherida as hosts."

The cabin is so cozy, clean, rustic and full of history. So close to both COR and Castle - a climber’s dream!

The yurt is everything we expected it to be based on the listing. It is in a perfect location for anyone visiting the City of Rocks or Castle Rock State Park. The yurt was clean when we arrived and the outhouse was much better than most! We loved our visit to the area! For those visiting: the pizza at Rock City is great and there is drinking water available at the City of Rocks visitors center

What a fantastic retreat! Outdoor lovers that we are, the cabin is the kind of rustic and private get-away that we would hope to find on all of our vacations. It had all of the required amenities, was nestled in absolute solitude, and was minutes away from the ever spectacular City of Rocks. After long days of exploring and hiking, it was a wonderful place to "come home to" and to rest our weary bones. We highly recommend it!

Great stay. The yurt was super clean with thoughtful touches like firewood for the firepit, a grill with grilling tools, paper towels, and a really nice outhouse! This is from someone who doesn't love camping. I loved this place! Would definitely return. Can't believe how well I slept on the bed!

Great location close to city of rocks and castle rocks. Very little traffic on the road nearby. Great spot for stargazing on a clear night. The yurt was exactly as described, clean, and comfortable. The antique outhouse was better than my bathroom at home in some ways ;). Great spot!

Russell

Red Roof Cabin Guest

The red roof cabin was fantastic! Everything we needed was provided. It was really clean, and very comfortable. Our daughter loved watching the lizards, and meeting the dogs. The location, adjacent to City of Rocks, couldn't be better. Beds were comfortable. The washer and dryer were much appreciated, as we got a bit dusty each day while exploring. There were too many thoughtful touches to detail. In short, this was the ideal vacation rental experience. Thanks so much!
